Suzanne F. Guyot, known to many as “Mimi,” passed away Monday, February 29th at Westmoreland Nursing Center in Lake Forest. Born in Chicago, IL, Mimi grew up in Winnetka, IL. She attended New Trier High School and graduated from the Emma Willard School in Troy, NY. She then went on to Northwestern University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.
Over the years, Mimi was involved with and participated in many organizations: Northwestern Settlement, Lighthouse for the Blind, Gads Hill Center, Peacock Camp, Boy and Girl Scout Troop Leader and the Parent Advisory Board of Kenyon College. She was most proud to be a member of the Winnetka Congregational Church where she served on several boards and was a lifelong choir member. She loved tennis, water aerobics, and singing–at any opportunity!
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, there was never a question that Mimi’s family came first. She was easily recognized in the community driving one of her brightly colored convertibles–top down and waving. Her caramel cake is legendary, along with Sunday family dinners. She was our lead shell seeker, sand castle builder, anything-grandchild related head cheerleader and will be greatly missed.
Mimi was the beloved wife of the late Charles A. Guyot, Jr.; loving mother of Suzanne (Thomas) Lyman and the late John (Barbara) Guyot; proud grandmother of S. Charles (Kristi), John, Katherine and Madeline Hilbrant, David Doll and Grace Guyot ; great grandmother of Cameron Thomas Hilbrant; step-grandmother of Thomas IV, Bridget and Stephanie Lyman.
