Dr. Daniel J. Burke
Dr. Daniel J. Burke, 65, of Lake Forest, died March 27, 2017 from complications of pancreatic cancer.
He was born on December 4, 1951, in Waukegan to Paul and Marijo (Tidy) Burke. Daniel is survived by his wife Abbe; son Gavin (Maria) Burke, daughter Kaitlin (Matthew) Geissler; sisters Marianne (Edward) Semrad, Maureen (Tony) Domerchie, Catherine (Bob) Powers, Pat (Ray) Vukovich, Bridget Morrill, several beloved nieces, nephews, and pets.
Dr. Burke loved family, friends, horses, the Cubs, the Illini, and his work. As a nationally recognized expert of equine nutrition, he loved sharing his knowledge and passion with other horse lovers as a university professor and in lecture forums. He was an extremely proud supporter of his family’s academic and athletic endeavors including those of his wife, children, nieces and nephews. He rarely missed an event or game.
His sense of humor and compassion for others made him universally loved and will make him universally missed.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 30 at Wenban Funeral Home, 320 Vine Ave, Lake Forest.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 31, at the Church of St Mary, 175 E Illinois Ave, Lake Forest with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, beside his parents.
