Frank A. Panzica, age 95, of Wilmette, formerly of Orland Park, Glenwood, and Chicago. Beloved husband of the late Alice Panzica nee Dagen. Loving father of Pamela (William) Erhart and Frank D. (Sharon) Panzica. Dear grandfather of Garrett and Heather Erhart, Adam Panzica, and the late Brock Erhart.
Born the middle child of nine siblings, Frank was a very hardworking man with a good sense of humor. Early in his adult life he served in World War II as a Sergeant in the 125 2nd Army Air Force Air Transport Command. He spent time in North Africa servicing airplanes and was honorably discharged in 1946. He met his wife, Alice, at the Railroad Retirement Board, where he worked for more than 30 years as a Claims Examiner. He kept in good shape walking two miles a day to and from the train station and the office. He was married almost 50 years and had two children–boy and girl twins.His hobbies included collecting U.S. postage stamps with his daughter, participating in the Boy Scouts as an Assistant Leader with his son, and traveling across the continental United States with Alice.
Interment Saturday, January 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m. with a Military Honors Ceremony to follow at Saint Mary Cemetery,87th Street & Hamlin Ave., Evergreen Park, IL 60805.
A Funeral Service will be held at a later date at First Presbyterian Church of Wilmette.
