C. Keith Smith of Lake Forest, IL, and formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away June 5, 2018 at the age of 94. Keith is survived by his wife- Jean, daughter- Cesilie Price (Bob), granddaughters- Lindsey Schaefer (Nick) and Laura French (David), and great grandsons- Nicholas, Rhett and Wells Schaefer and James French.
Keith was a very active church member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield and for the past 12 years, First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest. Keith loved engaging with people and enjoyed serving as a church Elder and most recently as Hospitality Minister. He also volunteered at Lake Forest Hospital for 7 years. Keith was a World War II veteran serving in the Army, and a member of the Riverton Union Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine for more than 50 years.
Prior to moving from Springfield, Keith owned insurance agencies and operated them for approximately 49 years. During his years in the insurance business Keith was a National Director and State President of the Professional Insurance Agents Association.
A memorial service for C. Keith Smith will be held on June 29th at 2 p.m., First Presbyterian Church of Lake Forest, 700 Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, IL. Reception will immediately follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, Keith requested donations be sent to The Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, 1801 Sheridan Rd., #202, North Chicago, IL 60064. Always a supportive father, grandfather and great grandfather, Keith loved children and tried to help every child have a better future.
