Bonnie Jean Tarun, 98, died February 15, 2017 at Lake Forest, Illinois. Born in Sturgis, South Dakota in 1918, she attended the University of Wyoming and then moved to Chicago to join her high school sweetheart Donald W. Tarun, supporting him in medical school while she earned an R.N. at Presbyterian St. Lukes Hospital. She and Dr. Tarun lived in Chicago until his death in 2005. She loved her family and the Cubs.
She was a Girl Scout troop leader, president of the Sauganash PTA and chair of the Lake Forest Antiques Show. “My mother could lead a dozen girls, fifty antique dealers or a hundred parents into action. Everyone knew she was organized, of warm humor and above all, dependable. She had no enemies. She personified ‘the Greatest Generation.'” said her son Bob of San Francisco (formerly of Kenilworth, IL).
She is survived by her son Bob and her daughter Terry Tarun Hall of Hanover, New Hampshire and seven grandchildren.
Burial took place at Black Hills National Cemetery on February 21, 2017.
