Nancy Harrison Winton of Glenview, IL, devoted wife of David, beloved mother of Susan and Linda; proud grandmother of Mitchell, Mia, Ellie, Anna and Tommy; and cherished teacher passed away peacefully on July 22, 2016 with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy.
Nancy was born to Wesley and Alice Harrison and grew up in St, Louis, MO. She graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Nancy recently attended her 60th college reunion in June. Nancy’s life was dedicated to family and community. She was an active member of Glenview Community Church for 50 years and Preschool Director over 25 years. Everywhere she would go in Glenview, she would run in to former students or parents. Nancy’s love of her profession prompted her to return to school and earn her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Administration from National Louis University. Nancy was a proud resident of Fir Street for half a century and especially enjoyed the 4th of July block party where she loved competing in games and made her famous baked beans.
Chocolate chip cookies were her specialty. She made them often for her grandchildren and neighbors. Nancy is survived by her husband, David Winton; daughters, Susan Pearsall (Jeffr) of Chicago and Linda Sear (Michael) of Glen Ellyn; grandchildren, Mitchell and Mia Pearsall and Ellie, Anna and Tommy Sear; brother, Jack Harrison of Pasadena, CA; brother-in-law, James Winton (Musette) of Weston, CT; and five nephews and one niece. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 27th at 2:30PM at Glenview Community Church, 1000 Elm Street, Glenview, IL 60025.
